According to the CDC, there are confirmed cases of Swine Flu in Wyoming.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention Swine Flu update
Wyoming Department of Heath Swine Flu update

At this time there no recommended restrictions on travel within Wyoming or the US.

Steps to prevent the spread of swine flu are the same as during a typical flu season.
  • Avoid contact with ill persons.
  • Covering noses and mouths when coughing or sneezing.
  • Frequent hand washing.
  • Staying home from work, school, or travel while ill with flu-like symptoms.

Symptoms of Swine Flu in humans are similar to seasonal flu symptoms and they may include:

  • Fever (usually high)
  • Headache
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle aches
  • Stomach symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, also can occur but are more common in children than adults.
  • Those that become severely ill (such as having trouble breathing) should seek medical care.
Local health care providers are providing testing for the swine flu on persons who are symptomatic (fever, body aches, high temp) and those who are in a household with people who are affected.

Please be advised that the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Emergency Department is not providing Preventative Screening/Routine Evaluations for Swine Flu. This means if you do not have flu symptoms, you should not go to the Emergency Department. If a person comes to the Emergency Department with flu-like symptoms, the physician will evaluate them and treat them accordingly. The hospital also asks that if you are ill, please refrain from visiting patients at the hospital.
