TB Screening and Followup
Initial screening for tuberculosis uning the Mantoux skin test is performed. Client will need to return to have the test read withing 48 to 72 hours after administration by a public health nurse. If client returns after 72 hours has elapsed, the test will need to be readministered. If there is a reaction (measurable swelling), the test may be read up to seven days later. Worksite TB screening clinics are available upon request.
Referrals to a physician are made for positive reactors to obtain a chest x-ray. If client requires medications, the Wyoming TB Control Program will mail them to our agency caseworker to distribute to the client. A baseline liver function test is needed prior to medication treatment and monthly thereafter. Sputum cultures can be collected to rule out active TB. If client has no insurance, Wyoming TB Control Program will cover the cost of the following:
* chest x-ray
* medications regardless of income
* baseline liver function tests
* sputum cultures regardless of income

Fridays - 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
(Appointment times available for TB testing will change occasionally due to office closures for holidays.)
